What's in the Box

Your Govee Smart Bulb BR30 Color package includes the BR30 smart bulb and a quick start guide. The BR30 form factor is designed for recessed lighting and track light fixtures, featuring a wider flood beam angle than standard A19 bulbs. It delivers full RGB color, tunable white from 2700K to 6500K, and connects to the Govee Home app via WiFi and Bluetooth for remote control and scheduling.

Prerequisites

  • A light fixture compatible with the BR30 form factor (recessed cans, track lighting, or similar flood-style fixtures)
  • A smartphone with the Govee Home app installed (available on iOS and Android)
  • A stable 2.4GHz WiFi network with the password ready
  • A Govee Home account created and verified
  • The light switch controlling the fixture must remain in the ON position for smart features to function

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Turn off the light switch that controls the fixture where you are installing the bulb.
  2. Remove the existing bulb from the fixture and insert the Govee Smart Bulb BR30 Color. For recessed cans, screw it in until it is snug but do not force it.
  3. Turn the light switch back on. The bulb will illuminate and begin flashing, signaling it is in pairing mode. If it does not flash, turn the switch off and on three times with approximately one-second intervals to trigger pairing mode.
  4. Open the Govee Home app on your phone and tap the "+" button to add a new device.
  5. Select the BR30 Color from the device list or scan the QR code on the included quick start guide.
  6. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. The initial connection uses Bluetooth for a smoother setup experience.
  7. When prompted, select your 2.4GHz WiFi network and enter the password. The app will finalize the connection and display a success message.
  8. Name the bulb according to its location, such as "Kitchen Recessed 1" or "Hallway Can Light," for easy identification in the app.

Grouping Multiple BR30 Bulbs

If you are installing several BR30 bulbs in a row of recessed fixtures, pair each one individually following the steps above, then create a group in the Govee Home app. Tap the group icon within the app and add all the bulbs in that room. Grouping lets you control brightness, color, and scenes across all the bulbs simultaneously with a single tap or voice command, which is especially useful for kitchens, living rooms, and hallways with multiple recessed lights.

Smart Home Integration Tips

The Govee Smart Bulb BR30 Color works seamlessly with Alexa and Google Assistant. Link your Govee account in the Alexa or Google Home app to unlock voice commands like "Alexa, set the kitchen lights to warm white" or "Hey Google, turn off the hallway lights." You can also build automations such as having all recessed lights dim to 20% at 9 PM for a relaxed evening ambiance, or turning them on at full brightness when you arrive home using location-based routines.

Color and Scene Options

The Govee Home app provides a rich color picker, dozens of preset scenes, and a music sync feature. The DIY mode lets you build custom color sequences and set transition speeds. For everyday use, the tunable white settings are ideal for matching the time of day, using cooler daylight tones in the morning and shifting to warm whites in the evening to promote better sleep.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the bulb does not appear in the app during pairing, confirm that your phone's Bluetooth is turned on and that the bulb is flashing. Ensure you are connecting to a 2.4GHz WiFi network, as 5GHz is not supported. If the bulb becomes unresponsive after setup, toggle the light switch off and on once to restart it. You can also factory reset the bulb by rapidly toggling the switch off and on five times, which will restore pairing mode.
