What You'll Need
- IKEA TRADFRI LED Bulb E26 (Thread-enabled)
- Standard E26 light socket
- Matter-compatible controller (Apple Home, Google Home)
- Thread border router (HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K, etc.)
- Smartphone with controller app
Step-by-Step Setup
- Turn off the fixture: Ensure the light switch is off before installing.
- Install the bulb: Screw the TRADFRI bulb into the E26 socket.
- Turn on power: Switch on the fixture. The bulb will illuminate and enter pairing mode.
- Reset if needed: If bulb was previously paired, turn off/on 6 times quickly to reset.
- Open Matter controller: Apple Home, Google Home, or another compatible app.
- Add accessory: Tap "+" to add a new device.
- Scan Matter code: Find the QR code on the bulb packaging and scan it.
- Wait for pairing: The bulb connects via Thread to your border router.
- Assign room: Place the bulb in the appropriate room.
- Test controls: Adjust brightness and (if applicable) color temperature.

Troubleshooting
- Bulb not discovered: Reset by turning off/on 6 times in quick succession. Ensure Thread border router is online and nearby.
- Matter code not scanning: Enter the numeric code manually. Ensure code wasn't already used. Use code from packaging.
- Bulb unresponsive: Check physical switch is on. Power cycle the bulb. Remove from app and re-add.
- Limited features: Basic bulbs only dim. For color/temperature control, ensure you have the correct bulb variant.
- Dimming not smooth: May occur at very low brightness levels. This is normal for some LED bulbs.
