What You'll Need
- iRobot Roomba j7+ robot vacuum
- Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal
- Smartphone with iRobot Home app
- Wi-Fi network
Step 1: Position the Clean Base
Place the Clean Base on a level floor surface against a wall. Choose an open, uncluttered area with at least 4 feet of clearance from stairs. Keep it away from direct sunlight and ensure good Wi-Fi coverage.
Step 2: Initial Charge
Place your Roomba j7+ on the Clean Base to activate the battery. The light ring will pulse white while charging. Charge for at least 3 hours before the first cleaning job.
Step 3: Download the App
Download the iRobot Home app from the App Store or Google Play. Create an account or sign in to your existing iRobot account.
Step 4: Add Your Robot
In the app, tap "Add a Robot." The app should automatically detect your Roomba j7+ if it's on the charging base. If not, manually select your model from the list.
Step 5: Connect to Wi-Fi
Follow the step-by-step instructions in the app to connect your Roomba to your home Wi-Fi network. This enables remote control and smart home integration.
Step 6: Create a Smart Map
In the app, select Map > "Create a new smart map." Open all doors and turn on lights for better mapping. Choose between a "Clean and Map" run or a dedicated "Mapping Run."
Step 7: Customize Settings
Once the map is created, you can name rooms, create Keep Out Zones, and set room-specific cleaning preferences.
