How to Set Up Your Lutron Caseta Smart Hub

What You'll Need

  • Lutron Caseta Smart Hub (Smart Bridge)
  • Ethernet cable (included)
  • Router with available LAN port
  • Smartphone with Lutron app
  • Micro-USB power adapter (included)

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Connect Ethernet: Plug the included Ethernet cable from the Smart Hub to an available LAN port on your router.
  2. Power On: Connect the micro-USB power adapter to the hub and plug into an outlet.
  3. Wait for Updates: If the center light bar moves in a circular pattern, the hub is updating. Wait for it to complete.
  4. Download Lutron App: Install the Lutron app from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Create Account: Sign up for a free Lutron account or log in to an existing one.
  6. Discover Hub: Ensure your phone is on the same network as the hub. The app will search for your Smart Hub.
  7. Press Hub Button: When prompted, press the button on the back of the Smart Hub.
  8. Name Your Home: Enter a name for your home and tap Next to complete setup.
  9. HomeKit Setup (Optional): Enter the HomeKit code from the bottom of the hub, or skip for later.

Troubleshooting

  • App can't find hub: Verify phone and hub are on the same network (not guest network).
  • Different network bands: Ensure phone isn't on 5GHz while hub is on 2.4GHz router segment.
  • Hub updating: Wait for the carousel light pattern to stop before continuing setup.
  • Devices not adding: Ensure the Smart Hub is set up before adding Caseta devices.
  • Factory reset: Press and hold the button on the back for 10 seconds until LEDs flash.
