What's in the Box
Your Nanoleaf Shapes Mini Triangles (5-Pack) package includes five mini triangular light panels, a controller panel, five mounting connectors (linkers), a power supply with cable, adhesive mounting tape strips, and a quick start guide. The mini triangles are approximately half the size of the standard Shapes Triangles, with each side measuring about 4.5 inches. Despite their smaller footprint, they feature the same RGBWW LED technology and touch-sensitive surface as the full-size panels, making them ideal for tighter spaces, detailed designs, or complementing larger Shapes panels.
Prerequisites
Before setting up the mini triangles, ensure you have:
- A smooth, flat wall surface for mounting (the compact size makes them suitable for areas like beside a desk, above a nightstand, or filling gaps in a larger Shapes layout)
- A power outlet within reach of the controller's cable
- The Nanoleaf app installed on your iOS or Android device
- A 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
- A clean wall surface free of dust for the adhesive tape
Mini Triangles use the same connector system as other Nanoleaf Shapes products and can be mixed with standard Triangles and Hexagons in a single layout. They connect to Wi-Fi through the controller panel.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Design your layout by arranging the mini triangles on a table or the floor. With five panels, you can create a compact diamond, arrow, or organic cluster. Use the Nanoleaf app's layout planner to experiment with designs digitally.
- Connect the panels using the linker connectors. Snap linkers into the edge ports of adjacent mini triangles. Include the controller panel in your chain.
- Apply adhesive mounting tape to the back of each panel. Press the tape firmly to ensure full contact.
- Position the controller panel on the wall first, pressing firmly for 30 seconds. Consider placing the controller where the power cable route is least visible.
- Mount each remaining mini triangle in sequence, pressing firmly for 30 seconds each. The smaller size makes precise alignment easier but also more noticeable if misaligned, so take your time.
- Connect the power supply to the controller and plug it into the outlet. The panels should light up right away.
- Open the Nanoleaf app, tap "Add Device," select "Shapes," and follow the prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
App Pairing and Features
Once paired, the Nanoleaf app detects the mini triangle layout and lets you apply scenes, customize individual panel colors, and enable touch interactions. Tap a panel to change its color, or swipe across multiple panels for dynamic effects. Browse scenes in the Nanoleaf Scene Store or create custom designs. The rhythm music sync feature uses the controller's microphone to create reactive lighting effects that match audio in your environment.
Smart Home Integration Tips
Mini Triangles support Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and IFTTT. Add them to your preferred platform for voice control and scheduled automations. Because they are often used as accent pieces, consider creating subtle ambient scenes rather than bold dynamic ones for everyday use. Save energetic party scenes for special occasions. If you have other Nanoleaf Shapes panels, the mini triangles can physically connect to them and share the same controller and Wi-Fi connection, appearing as a single unified device in your app.
Quick Troubleshooting
If a panel does not light up, check the linker connection between it and the adjacent panel. The mini triangle linkers are smaller and can sometimes be partially seated. Press firmly until you hear a click. If the system does not connect to Wi-Fi, enter the credentials for your 2.4GHz network only. If panels fall off the wall, clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and reapply with fresh adhesive strips, pressing for a full 60 seconds per panel. The lighter weight of mini triangles generally improves adhesion, but glossy or silicone-coated surfaces may still require screw mounting for a permanent hold.
