What You'll Need

  • Ring Alarm Pro Base Station
  • Ethernet cable (included)
  • Power adapter (included)
  • Smartphone with Ring app
  • Ring account
  • Internet connection (for initial setup)

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Position the base station: Place centrally in your home for best sensor coverage. The built-in eero Wi-Fi router needs good placement for whole-home coverage.
  2. Connect Ethernet: Plug the included Ethernet cable from your modem/router's LAN port to the base station's WAN port.
  3. Connect power: Plug in the power adapter. The base station will boot up (takes 2-3 minutes).
  4. Download Ring app: Install and sign in to your Ring account.
  5. Add the device: Tap "Set Up a Device" → "Security Devices" → "Base Station" → "Alarm Pro."
  6. Scan QR code: Find the QR code on the bottom of the base station.
  7. Complete network setup: The Alarm Pro includes an eero Wi-Fi 6 router. Choose to either extend your existing network or replace your router entirely.
  8. Name your location: Create a location name for your home in the app.
  9. Add Ring Alarm sensors: Begin adding Contact Sensors, Motion Detectors, and Keypads through the app.
  10. Test the system: Use the app to test sensors and ensure everything is communicating properly.

Troubleshooting

  • Base station not connecting: Verify Ethernet is connected to WAN port (not LAN). Check that your modem has internet. Power cycle both modem and base station.
  • Wi-Fi not working: Ensure eero network is set up in the Ring or eero app. Check for firmware updates. Try factory reset if persistent issues.
  • Sensors not pairing: Remove battery and reinsert. Move sensor closer to base station. Ensure sensor isn't already paired to another system.
  • Battery backup not charging: Battery takes 24 hours to fully charge initially. Check power adapter connection. Battery status shows in Ring app.
  • Cellular backup not working: Requires Ring Protect Pro subscription. Check cellular signal strength in settings. Contact Ring support if signal is adequate but backup fails.
