What's in the Box

Your Roborock S8 Pro Ultra package includes the following: the S8 Pro Ultra robot vacuum and mop, the RockDock Ultra docking station (with auto-empty, self-wash, and self-refill capabilities), a power cable, side brush, mopping pad, dust bags, Roborock floor cleaning solution, and the quick start guide. Verify all items are present and undamaged before beginning setup.

Prerequisites

Have these ready before you start:

  • A 2.4 GHz WiFi network with a reliable internet connection (the S8 Pro Ultra connects via 2.4 GHz WiFi)
  • The Roborock app installed on your iOS or Android smartphone
  • A flat area near a wall outlet for the RockDock Ultra, with at least 1.5 feet of clearance on either side and 4 feet of open space in front for the robot to navigate in and out
  • Clean, clutter-free floors to ensure accurate mapping on the first run

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Assemble the RockDock Ultra: Place the docking station against a wall on a hard, level surface. Connect the power cable and plug it into an outlet. Fill the clean water tank with fresh water and add Roborock cleaning solution to the solution reservoir. Insert a dust bag into the auto-empty compartment. Connect the water drainage hose if you plan to use the optional direct water hookup.
  2. Prepare the S8 Pro Ultra: Remove all protective films and packaging tape from the robot. Turn it over and install the side brush by pressing it firmly onto the spindle. Attach the VibraRise mopping pad to the bottom of the robot — it connects magnetically for easy attachment and removal.
  3. Charge the robot: Place the S8 Pro Ultra on the RockDock Ultra to begin charging. The indicator light will pulse during the charging process. Allow a full charge before the first use, which takes approximately 4 to 6 hours.
  4. Connect to the Roborock app: Open the Roborock app and create an account or sign in. Tap the "+" icon to add a new device and choose "Roborock S8 Pro Ultra" from the list. Follow the in-app instructions to pair the robot with your WiFi. When prompted, hold the power button on the robot until it announces it is ready to connect.
  5. Run the initial mapping session: Start a full mapping run from the app. The S8 Pro Ultra uses its LiDAR navigation system combined with Reactive 3D Obstacle Avoidance to create a precise floor plan of your home. Keep all doors open so the robot can access every room. This first run is primarily for mapping, so it may take longer than a standard cleaning cycle.
  6. Customize your map and cleaning preferences: After the map is complete, use the Roborock app to name each room, adjust suction power and mopping intensity per room, create no-go zones, and set no-mop zones for carpeted areas. The VibraRise system automatically lifts the mop pad when carpet is detected, but manual no-mop zones provide additional control. Set up scheduled cleaning routines based on your daily preferences.

Smart Home Integration Tips

The S8 Pro Ultra works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Siri Shortcuts. To set up Alexa, open the Alexa app, search for the Roborock skill, and link your account. For Google Home, find the Roborock integration and complete the linking process. Once connected, voice commands like "Alexa, tell Roborock to clean the kitchen" and "Hey Google, start vacuuming" will work seamlessly. iOS users can set up Siri Shortcuts from within the Roborock app. The S8 Pro Ultra can also be incorporated into smart home automations — for example, starting a cleaning cycle automatically when your smart lock detects you've left home.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the robot isn't found during app pairing, reset the WiFi module by pressing and holding the power and home buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. Verify that your phone is on the same 2.4 GHz WiFi network. If the RockDock Ultra's self-wash or auto-empty features aren't working properly, check that all water tanks are properly seated, the dust bag isn't full, and cleaning solution is available. After setup, check for firmware updates in the Roborock app — these updates often resolve early connectivity or navigation issues and add new features over time.
