What You Will Need
- Samsung Jet Bot+
- SmartThings app (iOS or Android) with a Samsung account
- A 2.4 GHz WiFi network
- Clean Station dock (included) placed in its permanent location
- Sufficient floor space for the robot to navigate
Step 1: Set Up the Clean Station
- Place the Clean Station (charging dock with auto-empty feature) against a wall on a flat, hard floor surface.
- Leave at least one foot of clearance on each side and three feet of clearance in front of the dock so the robot can navigate in and out easily.
- Plug the Clean Station into a nearby wall outlet. The indicator light will turn on.
- Remove the dust bag packaging material from inside the Clean Station if present.
Step 2: Prepare the Jet Bot+
- Remove all packaging tape, foam inserts, and protective materials from the robot.
- Flip the robot over and ensure the brushes and wheels are free of packaging material.
- Place the Jet Bot+ onto the Clean Station dock to begin its initial charge. The first charge takes approximately three to four hours.
- Wait for the robot to fully charge before starting setup. The indicator light on the robot will change when charging is complete.
Step 3: Download the SmartThings App and Add the Jet Bot+
- Open the SmartThings app and tap the + icon, then select Add Device.
- Tap Samsung, then select Robot Vacuum or search for Jet Bot.
- Press and hold the WiFi button on the Jet Bot+ (or the Start/Pause button, depending on the model) for three to five seconds until the WiFi indicator starts blinking.
- Follow the on-screen instructions in the app. You may need to connect your phone temporarily to the Jet Bot's WiFi hotspot during setup.
- Select your home 2.4 GHz WiFi network and enter the password.
- Wait for the connection to complete, then name the robot and assign it to a room.
Step 4: Run the Initial Mapping Cycle
- Before cleaning for the first time, prepare your home:
- Pick up small objects, cords, and loose items from the floor.
- Close bathroom doors if you do not want the robot to enter.
- Fold up loose rug tassels or remove lightweight rugs that might get caught.
- Start the first cleaning cycle from the SmartThings app or by pressing Start on the robot.
- The Jet Bot+ uses LiDAR sensor technology to map your home during its first run. Allow it to complete the full cycle without interruption for the best map quality.
- After the initial run, the map will appear in the SmartThings app. You can review and edit it.
Step 5: Configure Cleaning Preferences
In the SmartThings app, customize the Jet Bot+'s cleaning behavior:
- Room Selection — After mapping, you can select specific rooms to clean rather than the entire home.
- No-Go Zones — Draw virtual boundaries on the map to keep the robot away from certain areas (pet bowls, delicate furniture, etc.).
- Suction Power — Adjust between quiet, normal, and maximum suction modes.
- Scheduling — Set daily or weekly cleaning schedules so the robot cleans automatically.
- Clean Station Settings — Configure the auto-empty feature, which automatically transfers collected debris from the robot into the Clean Station's dust bag after each run.
Tips for Best Performance
- The Jet Bot+ connects directly via WiFi — no SmartThings Hub is required.
- Empty the Clean Station's dust bag every one to two months depending on usage. Replacement bags are available from Samsung.
- Clean the robot's brushes and sensors monthly. Hair and debris can wrap around the brush roller and reduce cleaning effectiveness.
- The robot works with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Bixby for voice-activated cleaning commands.
- If the robot gets stuck repeatedly in a certain area, use the No-Go Zone feature or physically adjust the obstacle.
