Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Charge if using battery power: Connect the USB-C cable to fully charge the doorbell before installation (about 4 hours).
  2. Download Arlo Secure App: Install and sign in or create an Arlo account.
  3. Add the doorbell: Tap "+" → "Doorbells" → "Essential Video Doorbell 2nd Gen."
  4. Scan QR code: Find the QR code on the back of the doorbell and scan it.
  5. Choose power source: Select "Wired" or "Battery" based on your installation preference.
  6. For wired installation: Turn off power at the circuit breaker. Remove your existing doorbell and connect the wires to the Arlo's terminal screws.
  7. Mount the bracket: Use the mounting plate as a template. Drill holes and secure with screws.
  8. Connect to Wi-Fi: Follow the app prompts to connect to your 2.4GHz network.
  9. Attach the doorbell: Slide the doorbell onto the mount and secure with the security screw.
  10. Restore power: If wired, turn the circuit breaker back on.

Troubleshooting

  • Wi-Fi won't connect: Ensure 2.4GHz network is being used. Move closer to router during setup. Check Wi-Fi password is correct.
  • No power when wired: Verify transformer is 8-24VAC. Check wire connections are secure. Test transformer output.
  • Battery draining quickly: High traffic areas drain faster. Reduce motion sensitivity. Consider wired installation for continuous power.
  • Chime not working: Install the included chime connector at your indoor chime. Enable mechanical chime in app settings.
  • Video quality poor: Clean the lens. Check Wi-Fi signal strength. Reduce video quality if bandwidth is limited.
