Aeotec Z-Wave 700 series devices offer long battery life and extended range. This guide covers pairing and reporting issues.

Device Won't Pair

  1. Put hub in inclusion mode first
  2. Press action button on device (varies by model)
  3. Door Sensor 7: Press button inside enclosure
  4. MultiSensor 7: Press button on back
  5. Keep device within 3 feet of hub during pairing

Exclusion Before Re-Pairing

  1. Previously paired devices must be excluded first
  2. Put hub in exclusion mode
  3. Press device action button
  4. Wait for exclusion confirmation
  5. Then attempt fresh inclusion

S2 Security Pairing Issues

  1. Z-Wave 700 devices support S2 security
  2. Enter DSK code from device label if prompted
  3. Accept "S2 Unauthenticated" if DSK fails
  4. S2 provides encrypted communication
  5. Some older hubs don't support S2 fully

Device Not Reporting Status

  1. Check battery level (CR123A or CR2477)
  2. Wake device by pressing button
  3. Configure reporting parameters in hub
  4. MultiSensor: Adjust motion sensitivity
  5. Set reporting intervals in device settings

Range Issues

  1. Z-Wave 700 has 100m+ outdoor range
  2. Walls and metal reduce range significantly
  3. Add repeater devices (powered Z-Wave devices)
  4. Run network heal/repair in hub
  5. Relocate hub to central location

Home Assistant Z-Wave JS

  1. Use Z-Wave JS integration (not legacy)
  2. Add device via Settings > Devices
  3. Interview may take 2-3 minutes
  4. Check entities are created after interview
  5. Configure device options in Z-Wave JS UI
