Broadlink RM4 Mini adds smart control to IR devices like TVs and AC units. This guide covers setup and command issues.

Device Not Connecting to WiFi

  1. RM4 requires 2.4GHz WiFi network
  2. Hold Reset until LED flashes rapidly
  3. Use Broadlink app (IHC or BroadLink)
  4. Enable location permission for app
  5. Keep phone near device during setup

Not Learning IR Commands

  1. Point original remote directly at RM4
  2. Keep remote within 6 inches of RM4
  3. Ensure RM4 LED lights when receiving
  4. Learn in room without IR interference
  5. Try learning same button multiple times

Commands Not Reaching Device

  1. IR is line-of-sight only
  2. Position RM4 to face target devices
  3. Maximum range is typically 8 meters
  4. IR blaster cable extends range
  5. Test learned command immediately after saving

AC Control Issues

  1. AC remotes send state not toggle commands
  2. Use AC mode in app for proper control
  3. Select exact AC brand and model
  4. Each temperature/mode is separate command
  5. Learn individual commands if database fails

Home Assistant Integration

  1. Use Broadlink integration (built-in)
  2. Add device by IP address
  3. Learn commands via HA service calls
  4. Store codes in configuration
  5. Create switches for each IR command

Alexa/Google Integration

  1. Link Broadlink account in Alexa/Google
  2. Create scenes for IR commands first
  3. Scenes appear as devices in Alexa/Google
  4. "Alexa, turn on TV" (scene named "TV")
  5. Complex commands require multiple scenes
