Control4 T4 Series and Crestron TSW touch screens are professional home automation controllers that require dealer configuration. This guide covers common user-level troubleshooting for these systems.

Touch Screen Not Powering On

Symptoms

  • Screen completely black
  • No LED indicators
  • Screen flickers then goes dark

Solutions

  1. Check power - Verify PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch is powered and providing power to the panel.
  2. Test ethernet cable - Replace ethernet cable if suspected of damage. Use Cat5e or Cat6.
  3. PoE requirements - Control4 T4 requires 802.3at PoE+. Crestron may require 802.3af or higher.
  4. Power cycle - Disconnect ethernet for 30 seconds, then reconnect.
  5. Contact dealer - These are dealer-installed systems. Contact your integrator for hardware issues.

Touch Screen Not Connecting to Controller

Symptoms

  • "Not Connected" message displayed
  • Control functions unavailable
  • Screen shows but can't control devices

Solutions

  1. Check controller status - Verify the main Control4 EA/CA controller or Crestron processor is powered and online.
  2. Network connectivity - Touch panel must be on the same network/VLAN as the controller.
  3. Restart panel - Access settings menu and restart, or power cycle via PoE switch.
  4. IP addressing - Check if panel has valid IP address. DHCP issues are common.
  5. Firewall rules - Enterprise networks may block required ports. Consult with IT and dealer.

Touch Response Issues

Symptoms

  • Touch not registering
  • Wrong button activates
  • Delayed response to touch

Solutions

  1. Clean screen - Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid cleaners with ammonia or alcohol.
  2. Recalibrate touch - Access settings menu and run touch calibration if available.
  3. Screen protector - Remove third-party screen protectors that may interfere.
  4. Check for damage - Physical damage may require dealer replacement.

Intercom/Camera View Issues

Symptoms

  • Doorbell camera not displaying
  • Intercom audio one-way or missing
  • Video feeds black

Solutions

  1. Camera connectivity - Verify camera is online and accessible on the network.
  2. Bandwidth - Video streaming requires adequate network bandwidth to the panel.
  3. Project programming - Camera feeds require proper dealer configuration in the project.
  4. Audio settings - Check intercom volume and microphone settings in panel settings.
