Feit Electric offers affordable smart bulbs through major retailers. This guide covers common issues with Feit smart lighting.

Bulb Won't Enter Pairing Mode

Getting bulb ready to pair:

  • Power cycle: Turn off/on 3 times with 1 second between each
  • Wait for flash: Bulb should flash indicating pairing mode
  • Timing: If 3 cycles doesn't work, try faster or slower timing
  • Different method: Some bulbs need 5 cycles for factory reset

WiFi Connection Problems

When bulb won't connect:

  • 2.4GHz only: Feit bulbs only work with 2.4GHz WiFi
  • Feit Electric app: Must use Feit Electric app for initial setup
  • Bluetooth: Some newer bulbs use Bluetooth for initial pairing
  • Router limits: Some routers limit connected devices - check capacity
  • Band steering: Disable band steering if bulbs can't connect

Flickering or Buzzing

Light quality issues:

  • Dimmer switch: Many flickers caused by incompatible dimmer switches
  • Use smart dimming: Smart bulbs should be on regular (non-dimmer) switches
  • Loose connection: Ensure bulb is fully screwed into socket
  • Defective bulb: Some bulbs are defective - try replacement
  • Minimum brightness: Set minimum brightness above 10% to reduce flicker

Matter-Enabled Bulbs

For newer Matter Feit products:

  • Matter code: Find QR code on bulb or packaging
  • Any platform: Can add to Google Home, Alexa, Apple Home directly
  • Feit app optional: Matter bulbs don't require Feit app
  • Thread support: Some Matter bulbs support Thread for mesh networking

Voice Assistant Setup

Alexa and Google integration:

  • Feit Electric skill: Enable in Alexa app and link account
  • Google Home: Add Feit Electric in Works with Google
  • Sync issues: Disable and re-enable skill if devices don't appear
  • Room assignment: Assign to rooms for easier voice control

App Not Controlling Bulb

When app shows bulb offline:

  • Same network: Phone must be on same network as bulb
  • WiFi changed: If you changed router/password, bulb needs re-setup
  • Power state: Bulb needs constant power - wall switch must be on
  • Cloud issues: Feit cloud outages affect app control
  • Static IP: Set DHCP reservation for reliable connection
