Fibaro makes premium Z-Wave sensors and accessories with advanced features. This guide covers common issues.
Device Won't Pair
Z-Wave inclusion problems:
- Wake up: Battery devices need to be woken (usually triple-click button)
- Exclude first: Run exclusion on hub before trying to include
- Close to hub: Include while device is within a few feet of hub
- Factory reset: Hold button until LED glows yellow, then release
- S2 security: Accept S2 security prompts during pairing if offered
Motion Sensor Issues
For Fibaro Motion Sensor:
- Sensitivity: Adjust sensitivity parameter (1-255, default 10)
- Blind time: Period after trigger before re-detection (default 15 seconds)
- Tamper: Ensure sensor is mounted securely - tamper alerts if loose
- Temperature: Built-in temperature sensor - can have offset calibration
- Lux reporting: Light level reporting can be configured
Door/Window Sensor Issues
For Fibaro Door/Window Sensor:
- Magnet distance: Keep magnet within specified distance when closed
- Mounting: Sensor and magnet must be aligned properly
- Tamper switch: Cover must be fully seated to avoid tamper alerts
- Temperature: Has built-in temperature sensor
Flood Sensor Problems
For Fibaro Flood Sensor:
- Probe placement: Gold probes must contact water to trigger
- Test: Place wet finger across probes to test
- Tilt sensor: Also triggers on tilt/movement
- Temperature: Includes temperature reporting
Parameter Configuration
Fibaro devices have extensive parameters:
- Z-Wave JS: Configure all parameters through Z-Wave JS UI
- SmartThings: Use device handlers for parameter access
- Wake up interval: Adjust how often battery devices check in
- Association groups: Direct associations for instant response
Battery Life
Maximizing battery life:
- Wake up interval: Longer intervals save battery
- Report thresholds: Higher thresholds = fewer reports = longer battery
- Quality batteries: Use name-brand lithium batteries
- Expected life: Most Fibaro sensors last 1-2 years on battery
