Flic smart buttons (including the Flic 2 and Flic Twist) trigger actions via Bluetooth or through a Flic Hub. This guide covers pairing and action trigger issues.

Button Not Pairing

Symptoms

  • Not found in Flic app
  • LED doesn't blink
  • Pairing fails

Solutions

  1. Fresh battery - Replace CR2016 (Flic 2) or CR2032 (Flic Twist) battery.
  2. Enable Bluetooth - Phone Bluetooth must be on for button pairing.
  3. Hold button - Hold Flic button for 8 seconds until LED blinks to enter pairing.
  4. Use Flic app - Download official Flic app for setup.
  5. Flic Hub - For hub-based setup, add button to hub in app first.

Button Presses Not Registering

Symptoms

  • Click not detected
  • Actions don't run
  • Sometimes works, sometimes not

Solutions

  1. Bluetooth range - Without hub, button needs Bluetooth connection to phone (30 ft).
  2. Use Flic Hub - Hub maintains constant connection, works without phone nearby.
  3. Check actions - Verify actions are configured in Flic app for click, double-click, hold.
  4. Background app - Phone app must be running in background for Bluetooth buttons.
  5. Battery - Low battery causes intermittent failures. Replace.

Flic Twist Rotation Issues

Symptoms

  • Rotation not detected
  • Dimming not smooth
  • Wrong direction

Solutions

  1. Configure rotation - Set up rotation actions in Flic app for dimming or volume.
  2. Sensitivity - Adjust rotation sensitivity in button settings.
  3. Calibrate - Some apps allow rotation direction calibration.
  4. Hub recommended - Twist works best with Flic Hub for responsive rotation.

Smart Home Integrations

Symptoms

  • Can't control HomeKit devices
  • Alexa actions fail
  • IFTTT not triggering

Solutions

  1. Flic Hub required - Most integrations need Flic Hub, not just phone app.
  2. Link accounts - Connect Flic to HomeKit, Alexa, IFTTT in Flic app integrations.
  3. HomeKit - Add Flic Hub to Apple Home for HomeKit scene triggering.
  4. Internet required - IFTTT and cloud integrations need hub's internet connection.

Flic Hub Issues

Symptoms

  • Hub offline
  • Buttons connected to hub not working
  • No internet connection

Solutions

  1. Check ethernet - Hub connects via ethernet cable. Verify cable and router port.
  2. Power - Ensure hub is powered via USB adapter.
  3. LED status - Check hub LED for connectivity status (solid green = connected).
  4. Router firewall - Hub needs outbound internet access. Check router settings.
  5. Firmware update - Hub updates automatically. Verify it's on latest version in app.
