Problem Description
Your Wyze Lock is not locking or unlocking properly, the motor sounds like it's jamming, or the lock keeps losing its connection to the Wyze app. Auto-lock may not be working, or the lock shows as offline.
Common Causes
- Door or deadbolt misaligned
- Lock not properly calibrated
- Wyze Lock Gateway offline or out of range
- Low battery in the lock
- Bluetooth connectivity issues
- WiFi problems affecting the gateway
Solutions
1. Check Door Alignment
The most common cause of lock jamming is door misalignment:
- Open the door and try locking/unlocking - if it works, the door is misaligned
- Check if the deadbolt extends smoothly into the strike plate
- Adjust the strike plate if needed, or use the included strike plate adjustment
- Ensure the door closes fully and isn't warped
2. Recalibrate the Lock
- Open the Wyze app and select your lock
- Tap the settings gear icon
- Select Calibrate Lock
- Follow the on-screen instructions to recalibrate
- Make sure the door is closed during calibration
3. Check Battery Level
- Low batteries can cause erratic behavior
- Check battery level in the Wyze app
- Replace all 4 AA batteries at once with fresh alkaline batteries
- Don't mix old and new batteries
4. Check the Wyze Lock Gateway
The gateway provides WiFi connectivity:
- Ensure the gateway is plugged in and the LED is solid blue
- Gateway should be within 40 feet of the lock
- Power cycle the gateway by unplugging for 30 seconds
- Check that your WiFi network is working
5. Re-pair via Bluetooth
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
- Stand within 10 feet of the lock
- Open Wyze app and try to connect to the lock
- If it fails, remove the lock from the app and re-add it
6. Check Auto-Lock Settings
- Open Wyze app and select your lock
- Tap settings and find Auto-Lock
- Ensure it's enabled and set to your desired time
- Check that the calibration position for 'locked' is correct
7. Factory Reset
If problems persist:
- Remove the battery cover from the lock
- Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds
- The lock will beep and reset
- Remove from Wyze app and set up again
When to Contact Support
Contact Wyze Support if the motor makes grinding noises, the lock physically won't turn even manually, or the gateway shows persistent connection errors.
