Lock Won't Connect
WiFi Models

- Hold the Yale button on the lock until it beeps
- Follow app prompts to connect via Bluetooth then WiFi
- Lock connects to 2.4GHz WiFi only
Z-Wave Models
- Put your Z-Wave hub in inclusion mode
- On the lock keypad, enter your master code then press Yale button
- Press 7, then Yale button (or follow your model's specific sequence)
- Wait for hub to discover the lock
Matter Models (Assure Lock 2)
- Use Apple Home, Google Home, or other Matter controller
- Scan the Matter QR code on the lock
- Thread-enabled for mesh networking
- Requires a Thread border router for remote access
Auto-Unlock Not Working
Auto-unlock uses your phone's location:
- Enable in Yale Access app > Lock > Auto-Unlock
- Grant location permission "Always" to the app
- Ensure Bluetooth is on for reliable detection
- Calibrate by leaving and returning home several times
- May not work if phone's location services are unreliable
Lock Jamming or Motor Issues
- Check door alignment - bolt should extend smoothly
- Adjust strike plate if there's resistance
- Use graphite lubricant on the bolt (not WD-40)
- Recalibrate the lock if it's not fully extending
Keypad Issues
- Clean keypad with a dry cloth
- Check code is entered correctly (include master code for programming)
- Delete and re-add user codes if they stop working
- Replace batteries if keypad is unresponsive
Battery Life
- Uses 4 AA batteries typically
- Low battery warnings at ~20%
- WiFi models drain faster than Z-Wave/Bluetooth
- Lock still works with keypad even if batteries are dead (9V backup)
