They're cheap enough to put everywhere, but there are real differences between products worth knowing about.
Energy monitoring is the underrated feature. Most people buy smart plugs for scheduling and voice control, but energy monitoring is where the real value is. See exactly how much power each device draws, find out what's costing you on standby, and set up automations based on usage - like an alert when the dryer finishes because power drops to near zero. The price difference is usually just a few dollars. Get it every time.
The 15A rating matters. Most smart plugs handle 15 amps, which covers nearly anything on a standard outlet. But cheaper models are only rated for 10A and can't safely handle space heaters, window AC units, or other high-draw devices. Always check the rating, especially for heating or cooling appliances. An undersized plug with a high-draw device is a fire risk.

Check the physical size. Some plugs are bulky enough to block the adjacent outlet. Look for compact designs, especially if outlet space is tight.
