SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor

The SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor is a versatile Zigbee sensor detecting open/closed status, temperature, vibration, and orientation. This multi-function capability enables diverse automations from door monitoring to appliance usage detection through a single, compact device.

The magnetic contact sensor monitors doors, windows, cabinets, and other openings—trigger alerts when entry points open, automate lights when doors open, or receive notifications when garage doors are left open. Temperature sensing adds climate-related automations.

Vibration and acceleration detection enables unique applications—know when the washer or dryer finishes by detecting vibration cessation, or monitor if items have been moved or tampered with. Orientation sensing can detect whether objects are upright or tilted.

Zigbee connectivity communicates through SmartThings Hub for reliable operation. The compact two-piece design (sensor and magnet) installs with included adhesive. Battery operation provides approximately two years of use. The SmartThings app enables creating automations using any or all of the sensor's capabilities.
