What You'll Need

  • iRobot Roomba Combo j9+
  • Clean Base Auto-Fill Dock (included)
  • iRobot Home app on smartphone
  • 2.4GHz WiFi network
  • Clean, flat surface for dock placement

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Position the dock: Place Clean Base against a wall with 1.5 feet clearance on sides and 4 feet in front. Connect water tank.
  2. Fill water tank: Remove tank from dock back, fill with clean water, and reinstall.
  3. Charge the robot: Place Roomba on dock. Ensure charging contacts connect (battery light pulses).
  4. Download iRobot app: Get the app and create or sign in to your iRobot account.
  5. Add new robot: Tap "+" and select "Roomba" from the device list.
  6. Connect to WiFi: Press and hold the Home and Spot buttons until the WiFi light flashes. Follow app prompts.
  7. Map your home: Send the robot on a mapping run. It learns your floor plan over 2-3 cleaning sessions.
  8. Customize rooms: Once mapped, name rooms and set cleaning preferences for each area.
  9. Set no-mop zones: Mark carpeted areas where mopping should be avoided in the app.

Troubleshooting

  • Robot won't charge: Clean charging contacts on robot and dock with dry cloth.
  • WiFi connection fails: Must use 2.4GHz network. Ensure correct password entered.
  • Mop not retracting: Check that mop pad is properly attached. Update firmware via app.
  • Keeps getting stuck: Clear floor clutter. Ensure transition strips are under 5/8 inch.
  • Missing rooms on map: Run additional mapping runs. Ensure doors are open during mapping.
