The Aqara Cube T1 Pro is a unique Zigbee controller shaped like a cube that responds to six different gestures — shake, flip 90 degrees, flip 180 degrees, slide, rotate, and tap. Each gesture can trigger a different smart home automation, making it a fun and intuitive way to control your devices without reaching for your phone.

What You Will Need

  • Aqara Cube T1 Pro
  • Aqara Hub (M2, M3, or Camera Hub G3) already set up on your network
  • Aqara Home app installed on your smartphone (iOS or Android)
  • CR2450 coin cell battery (included)

Preparing the Cube

  1. Remove the Cube T1 Pro from its packaging.
  2. Pull the plastic battery isolation tab to activate the CR2450 battery.
  3. The cube does not have a visible LED, but a brief internal sound or slight vibration may confirm activation.

Pairing with Your Aqara Hub

  1. Open the Aqara Home app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the + icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Cube T1 Pro from the device list, or scan the QR code on the packaging.
  4. Choose the Aqara Hub you want to pair with.
  5. Press and hold the reset button (located inside a small pinhole on one side of the cube) for 5 seconds using a pin or paperclip. The cube will enter pairing mode.
  6. Wait for the app to discover and connect the cube.
  7. Assign it to a room and give it a name.

Understanding the Six Gestures

The Cube T1 Pro recognizes six distinct physical gestures. Practice each one to get a feel for how the cube responds:

  • Shake — Pick up the cube and shake it side to side a few times.
  • Flip 90 degrees — Tip the cube onto an adjacent side (a quarter turn).
  • Flip 180 degrees — Turn the cube completely upside down.
  • Slide — Push the cube across a flat surface without lifting it.
  • Rotate — Twist the cube on one of its edges while keeping the same face on top. The angle of rotation can be used for proportional control, such as adjusting light brightness or volume.
  • Tap — Tap the cube twice on the surface (like double-knocking).

Setting Up Gesture Automations

Each gesture can be assigned a unique automation. The Cube T1 Pro also supports scene mode and action mode:

  1. In the Aqara Home app, go to the Automations tab.
  2. Tap + to create a new automation.
  3. Select Cube T1 Pro as the trigger.
  4. Choose the gesture you want to assign.
  5. Add your desired action or scene.
  6. Save and test by performing the gesture.

Practical Gesture Ideas

  • Shake — Toggle all living room lights on or off.
  • Flip 90 degrees — Switch between lighting scenes (reading, relaxing, movie mode).
  • Flip 180 degrees — Activate or deactivate your "Away" security mode.
  • Slide — Change the color temperature of your smart bulbs.
  • Rotate — Adjust light brightness proportionally. Rotate clockwise to brighten and counterclockwise to dim. This is one of the most satisfying uses of the cube.
  • Tap — Play or pause music on a connected speaker (if supported through your platform).

Using Scene Mode vs. Action Mode

The Cube T1 Pro operates in two modes that you can select in the app settings:

  • Scene mode — Each side of the cube represents a different scene. When you flip the cube to a particular side, the associated scene activates. This gives you six preset scenes accessible by simply flipping the cube.
  • Action mode — Each gesture type triggers a specific automation regardless of which side is facing up. This is the default mode and works best for general-purpose control.

Placement and Use Tips

  • Keep the cube on a flat surface like a coffee table or nightstand for easy access. The rotate and slide gestures require a surface to work.
  • The cube enters a sleep state after one minute of inactivity to save battery. Pick it up or move it to wake it before performing a gesture.
  • The CR2450 battery lasts approximately one to two years depending on usage frequency.
  • To replace the battery, gently separate the two halves of the cube with a fingernail or thin tool, swap the battery, and snap it back together.
  • The cube must be within Zigbee range of your hub, typically 10 to 15 meters.
