Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Remove battery tab: Pull the plastic tab to activate the pre-installed CR2450 battery.
  2. Open Matter controller: Apple Home, Google Home, or other compatible app.
  3. Add device: Tap "+" to add a new accessory.
  4. Scan Matter code: Find the QR code on the sensor or packaging and scan it.
  5. Wait for pairing: The sensor connects via Thread to your border router.
  6. Assign room: Place the sensor in the appropriate room.
  7. Position the sensor: Mount 6-7 feet high in a corner for best PIR coverage. The sensor detects motion and light levels.
  8. Configure automations: Set up actions when motion is detected or based on light level.
  9. Test detection: Walk through the sensor's field of view to verify it detects motion.

Troubleshooting

  • Not pairing: Ensure Thread border router is online. Reset by inserting a pin into the reset hole for 5 seconds. Move closer during setup.
  • Motion not detected: PIR sensors detect motion across their field of view. Avoid pointing directly at expected traffic path.
  • False triggers: Move away from heat sources, HVAC vents, or direct sunlight which can trigger PIR sensors.
  • Light sensor inaccurate: Sensor measures ambient light near its location. Position may need adjustment for accurate readings.
  • Battery draining: High activity areas report more frequently. Normal battery life is 3-5 years with typical use.
