The Aqara Opple 6-Button Remote is a Zigbee wireless controller with six programmable buttons arranged in three rows of two. Each button supports single press, double press, and long press, giving you up to 18 distinct actions from one compact remote. It connects to your Aqara Hub and is perfect for controlling lights, scenes, and multi-room setups.

What You Will Need

  • Aqara Opple 6-Button Remote
  • Aqara Hub (M2, M3, or Camera Hub G3) already set up on your network
  • Aqara Home app installed on your smartphone (iOS or Android)
  • CR2032 coin cell battery (included)

Preparing the Remote

  1. Remove the remote from its packaging.
  2. Pull the battery isolation tab from the back of the remote to activate the CR2032 battery.
  3. A small LED indicator on the front of the remote should flash briefly to confirm it has power.

Pairing with Your Aqara Hub

  1. Open the Aqara Home app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the + icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Opple Wireless Scene Switch (6-Button) from the device list, or scan the QR code on the packaging.
  4. Choose the Aqara Hub you want to pair with.
  5. Press and hold any button on the remote for 5 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly, indicating pairing mode.
  6. Wait for the app to discover and connect the remote.
  7. Assign it to a room and give it a name such as "Bedroom Remote" or "Living Room Controller."

Understanding the Button Layout

The six buttons are arranged in three rows, with two buttons per row. Think of them as three pairs:

  • Top pair — Buttons 1 (left) and 2 (right)
  • Middle pair — Buttons 3 (left) and 4 (right)
  • Bottom pair — Buttons 5 (left) and 6 (right)

Each button supports three press types — single press, double press, and long press — for a total of 18 possible automation triggers.

Setting Up Automations

  1. Go to the Automations tab in the Aqara Home app.
  2. Tap + to create a new automation.
  3. Select the Opple 6-Button Remote as the trigger.
  4. Choose the specific button number and press type (single, double, or long press).
  5. Add one or more actions such as toggling lights, activating scenes, or adjusting device settings.
  6. Save the automation and test by pressing the corresponding button.
  7. Repeat for each button and press type you want to configure.

Practical Configuration Ideas

Here is an example layout that uses each row for a different room or function:

  • Top row — Bedroom: Button 1 single press toggles the bedroom light. Button 2 single press activates a dimmed nightlight scene. Button 1 long press turns off all bedroom devices.
  • Middle row — Living Room: Button 3 single press toggles living room lights. Button 4 single press activates a movie scene (dim lights, close blinds). Button 3 double press sets brightness to 50%.
  • Bottom row — Whole Home: Button 5 single press activates "All Lights On." Button 6 single press activates "Goodnight" scene (all lights off, doors locked, alarm armed). Button 6 long press triggers the hub alarm.

Mounting Options

The Opple Remote can be used as a handheld controller or mounted on a wall:

  • Wall mount — Use the included adhesive or screws to attach the mounting plate to the wall. The remote snaps onto the plate magnetically and can be easily removed when you want to carry it.
  • Tabletop — Place it on a nightstand, coffee table, or desk for easy reach.
  • Portable — Carry it from room to room as a multi-function remote control.

HomeKit Integration

When connected through a HomeKit-enabled Aqara Hub, the Opple Remote appears in Apple Home as a programmable button. However, HomeKit may only expose single-press actions. For full access to all 18 actions, configure your automations through the Aqara Home app instead.

Tips

  • Start by programming just a few buttons, then add more as you become comfortable with the layout.
  • Label the buttons with small stickers or use a label maker if you have trouble remembering which button does what.
  • The CR2032 battery typically lasts one to two years with regular use.
  • Keep the remote within Zigbee range (10 to 15 meters) of your hub for reliable operation.
  • If the remote stops responding, reset it by holding any button for 10 seconds, then re-pair it in the app.
