Aeotec WallMote and NanoMote are Z-Wave scene controllers. This guide covers pairing and button response issues.
Remote Not Pairing
- Put Z-Wave hub in inclusion mode
- WallMote: Press and hold any button 2 seconds
- NanoMote: Hold middle buttons together
- Keep remote within 3 feet of hub
- Exclude first if previously paired elsewhere
Button Presses Not Detected
- Configure central scene in hub
- SmartThings: Use button controller automation
- Home Assistant: Use device triggers, not entities
- Scene IDs: 1-4 for buttons, actions for press type
- Test with developer tools event listener
Swipe Gestures (WallMote)
- Swipe gestures send different scene IDs
- Configure swipe sensitivity in parameters
- Up/down swipes may trigger dimming scenes
- Gestures can be disabled if not needed
- Clean surface for better swipe detection
Battery Draining Fast
- Check wakeup interval setting
- Increase interval to save battery (3600+ seconds)
- Replace with quality CR2450 batteries
- Normal battery life is 1-2 years
- Frequent use decreases battery life
Home Assistant Setup
- Device triggers appear in automation triggers
- Select "Device" trigger type
- Choose button number and action type
- Actions: pressed, released, held, released after hold
- Use Blueprint automations for easier setup
Wall Mounting
- Mount with included adhesive or screws
- Metal backing plates may reduce range
- Keep within Z-Wave network range
- Avoid mounting near WiFi routers
