Common Causes

  • The Cube T1 Pro's battery is depleted
  • The device is out of Zigbee range from the Aqara hub
  • The cube was not placed in pairing mode correctly during setup
  • Hub firmware is outdated, preventing pairing with newer accessories
  • The Zigbee network has reached its device limit on the hub
  • The accessory was previously paired to a different hub and was not properly reset

Fix 1: Check the Battery

  1. The Aqara Cube T1 Pro uses a CR2450 coin cell battery. Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the cube by twisting the cover.
  2. If the cube has been unresponsive for an extended period, the battery is likely dead. Replace it with a fresh CR2450, ensuring correct polarity (positive side up).
  3. After inserting the battery, shake or rotate the cube. The LED on the cube should blink briefly, indicating power.

Fix 2: Enter Pairing Mode Correctly

The most common reason an Aqara accessory will not pair is that it is not in pairing mode when the app is searching.

  1. Open the Aqara Home app and tap + to add a new accessory.
  2. Select the Cube T1 Pro from the device list (or the specific accessory you are trying to pair).
  3. On the cube, press and hold the reset button (small hole on one side — use a pin or paperclip) for 5 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly three times.
  4. Release the button. The LED should continue to blink, indicating the cube is in active pairing mode.
  5. Wait for the app to detect the device. This may take up to 60 seconds. Keep the cube within 1 meter of the hub during pairing for the best results.

Fix 3: Reset a Previously Paired Device

If the accessory was previously connected to a different hub or Aqara account, it must be fully reset before it can pair with a new hub.

  1. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds (longer than the normal 5-second pairing press). The LED will flash rapidly and then turn off, indicating a factory reset.
  2. After the reset, immediately try pairing the device again in the Aqara Home app.
  3. If the previous hub is still accessible, remove the device from that hub first through the Aqara Home app before resetting it. This prevents orphaned device records.

Fix 4: Bring the Device Closer to the Hub

  1. During initial pairing, place the accessory within 1 to 2 meters of the Aqara hub. Pairing requires a stronger signal than normal operation.
  2. After successful pairing, you can move the device to its intended location. It will reconnect through the Zigbee mesh network.
  3. If the device pairs successfully up close but drops offline when moved to its final location, add a powered Zigbee device (smart plug or wired switch) between the hub and the accessory to extend the mesh.

Fix 5: Update Hub Firmware

  1. Open the Aqara Home app and navigate to your hub's device page.
  2. Tap Settings and check for available firmware updates.
  3. Install any updates. Newer accessories like the Cube T1 Pro sometimes require the latest hub firmware for compatibility.
  4. After the update, restart the hub and try pairing the accessory again.

Fix 6: Check the Hub's Device Limit

Each Aqara hub has a maximum number of Zigbee devices it can support. The Hub M2 supports up to 128 devices, while smaller hubs or camera hubs may have lower limits.

  1. In the Aqara Home app, go to the hub's settings and check how many devices are currently paired.
  2. If you are near the limit, remove any devices you no longer use to free up slots.
  3. If you have a large smart home setup, consider adding a second Aqara hub to distribute the load.

Fix 7: Try a Different Hub

In rare cases, a specific hub may have a Zigbee radio issue that prevents pairing with certain devices.

  1. If you have another Aqara hub available, try pairing the accessory to it instead.
  2. If the device pairs successfully to the other hub, the original hub may need a factory reset or replacement.
  3. If the device fails to pair with any hub, it may be defective.

When to Contact Support

If the accessory's LED does not light up at all after inserting a fresh battery and pressing the reset button, the device hardware is likely faulty. Contact Aqara Support with the device model and serial number for warranty replacement. Keep your proof of purchase available.
