The Bond Bridge learns and transmits RF signals to control ceiling fans, fireplaces, and other RF devices. This guide covers common issues with Bond devices.

Device Won't Learn Remote Commands

If Bond can't learn your remote signals:

  • Frequency support: Bond supports 300-450MHz RF - some devices use different frequencies
  • Fresh batteries: Put new batteries in the original remote before learning
  • Close proximity: Hold remote 1-2 inches from Bond during learning
  • Single press: Press and release button quickly - don't hold
  • Interference: Move away from other electronics during learning
  • Try multiple times: Some remotes need several learning attempts

Commands Don't Work Reliably

When learned commands are inconsistent:

  • Bridge placement: Move Bond closer to the device being controlled
  • Signal strength: RF signals need clear path - avoid placing in cabinets
  • Re-learn command: Delete and re-learn problematic commands
  • Antenna position: Bond Bridge Pro has external antenna - position vertically
  • Multiple signals: Some fans need command sent twice - configure in app

Fan Speed or Light Not Working

Specific ceiling fan issues:

  • Device template: Choose correct fan template in Bond app for proper speed control
  • State tracking: Bond tracks state internally - if out of sync, use "Fix State" option
  • Dimmer support: Not all fans support dimming - may only have on/off
  • Speed levels: Configure correct number of speeds for your fan

Smart Home Integration

Voice assistant and Home Assistant setup:

  • Local API: Enable local API in Bond settings for Home Assistant
  • Token: Get API token from Bond app settings for HA integration
  • Alexa/Google: Link Bond account in respective apps
  • Fan entity: Fans appear as fan entities with speed control in HA
