Problem Description

Your Broadlink RM4 Pro is not learning IR commands from your TV remote, not capturing RF signals, or learned commands are not controlling your devices.

Common Causes

  • Remote battery too low for strong signal
  • Wrong learning mode selected
  • Device positioned incorrectly during learning
  • RF device uses unsupported frequency
  • WiFi connection issues

Solutions

1. Setup for IR Learning

  1. Open Broadlink app
  2. Select your RM4 Pro device
  3. Tap Add Remote then Learn
  4. Choose IR for infrared devices

2. Proper Learning Technique

  • Use fresh batteries in original remote
  • Point remote directly at RM4 Pro from 2-3 inches
  • Press button firmly for 1-2 seconds
  • Wait for confirmation before next button

3. Setup for RF Learning

  1. Select RF instead of IR when adding remote
  2. Choose the frequency if known (315MHz or 433MHz)
  3. RM4 Pro supports both common RF frequencies
  4. Hold RF remote very close during learning

4. Test Learned Commands

  1. After learning, test each command
  2. Point RM4 Pro toward the device you want to control
  3. Ensure no obstructions for IR signals
  4. RF commands work through walls

5. Use Cloud Database

  1. Instead of learning, try cloud remotes
  2. Search for your device brand and model
  3. Download pre-made remote profile
  4. Test if commands work

6. Check Device Position

  • IR requires line of sight to controlled device
  • Place RM4 Pro where it can see all your IR devices
  • Consider IR extender cables for hidden placement

7. Reconnect WiFi

  1. If device shows offline, reset WiFi
  2. Press reset button for 5 seconds
  3. LED will flash for setup mode
  4. Reconnect in Broadlink app

When to Contact Support
