Problem Description

Your SwitchBot Hub Mini is not connecting to WiFi, failing to control IR devices, or your SwitchBot devices (Bot, Curtain, Lock) aren't responding through the hub. The hub may show a flashing indicator light or appear offline in the app.

Common Causes

  • Hub not connected to 2.4GHz WiFi (5GHz not supported)
  • IR signal path blocked between hub and device
  • SwitchBot Cloud service issues
  • Bluetooth devices out of range of hub
  • App or firmware needs updating
  • Router firewall blocking cloud connection

Solutions

1. Verify WiFi Network Requirements

  • SwitchBot Hub Mini only works with 2.4GHz WiFi networks
  • Check your router to ensure you have a 2.4GHz network available
  • Network name should not contain special characters
  • WPA/WPA2 security is required (WPA3 may cause issues)

2. Power Cycle the Hub

  1. Unplug the Hub Mini from power
  2. Wait 30 seconds
  3. Plug it back in
  4. Wait for the indicator light to turn solid (about 1 minute)

3. Re-add the Hub to Your Account

  1. Open SwitchBot app and go to the Hub Mini
  2. Tap Settings (gear icon) > Delete
  3. Tap the + icon to add a new device
  4. Select Hub Mini and follow the setup wizard
  5. Hold the button on the hub until light flashes quickly

4. Check IR Signal Path

For controlling IR devices (TV, AC, etc.):

  • Ensure nothing is blocking the hub's IR transmitter
  • Point the hub toward the device you want to control
  • Hub should be within 30 feet of the IR device
  • Try re-learning the IR commands

5. Check Bluetooth Device Range

For SwitchBot Bots, Curtains, and other BLE devices:

  • Devices must be within 30 feet of the Hub Mini
  • Walls and obstacles reduce range significantly
  • Ensure devices are paired to the hub in the app
  • Try moving the hub closer to the devices

6. Update App and Firmware

  1. Update the SwitchBot app to the latest version
  2. Open the app and go to Hub Mini settings
  3. Check for firmware updates and install if available
  4. Restart the app after updating

7. Factory Reset the Hub

  1. Press and hold the button on the hub for 15 seconds
  2. The light will flash then turn off
  3. Release and wait for it to restart
  4. Set up the hub again from scratch

When to Contact Support

Contact SwitchBot Support if the hub indicator stays red, you've tried all steps without success, or multiple devices are having the same issue simultaneously.
