Step-by-Step Setup
- Check shade compatibility: The E1 works with most roller shades that use a beaded chain mechanism.
- Connect power: Plug the USB-C cable into the E1 and connect to power. The device will initialize.
- Install the chain: Thread your existing shade's beaded chain through the E1's drive mechanism.
- Mount the driver: Position the E1 at the correct height and secure with the included mounting bracket.
- Open Aqara Home app: Navigate to your hub and tap "Add accessory."
- Select Roller Shade Driver E1: Follow the pairing instructions.
- Enter pairing mode: Press the button on the E1 until the LED blinks.
- Calibrate positions: Use the app to set the fully open and fully closed positions.
- Test operation: Verify the shade moves smoothly in both directions.
- Set schedules: Create automations for sunrise/sunset or other triggers.

Troubleshooting
- Chain slipping: Ensure chain is properly seated in the drive mechanism. Adjust chain tension if needed.
- Motor struggling: Check shade isn't binding. Reduce shade load or upgrade to larger motor for heavy shades.
- Not pairing: Ensure hub is online. Press pairing button for 5 seconds. Move closer to hub during setup.
- Position calibration wrong: Re-run calibration. Manually position shade at each limit, then save in app.
- Slow movement: Ensure adequate power supply. Check chain isn't tangled or obstructed.
