What You'll Need

  • Philips Hue Bridge
  • Ethernet cable (included)
  • Router with available LAN port
  • Smartphone with Philips Hue app

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Download Hue App: Install the Philips Hue app from the App Store or Google Play before connecting the bridge.
  2. Position the Bridge: Place the Hue Bridge within a few feet of your Wi-Fi router.
  3. Connect Ethernet: Use the included Ethernet cable to connect the Hue Bridge to an available LAN port on your router.
  4. Power On: Plug in the Hue Bridge and wait until all three lights turn on (power, network, internet).
  5. Open Hue App: Launch the app and tap "Yes" when asked to add a bridge, or go to Settings > Devices > (+).
  6. Scan QR Code: Scan the QR code on the bottom of the Hue Bridge. Tap "Next" when successful.
  7. Press Bridge Button: When prompted, press the large button on top of the Hue Bridge to finalize pairing.
  8. Complete Setup: Follow on-screen instructions to name your home and add Hue lights.

Troubleshooting

  • Bridge not found: Press the button on the bridge and tap retry in the app.
  • Not all lights on: Ensure Ethernet is securely connected and router has internet access.
  • Can't scan QR code: Tap "No QR code" in the app to add by searching instead.
  • Lights not responding: Ensure lights are within Zigbee range. Add more Hue lights to extend the mesh.
  • Factory reset: Turn the bridge upside down and use a pin to press the reset button for 5 seconds.
