What You'll Need

  • SwitchBot Blind Tilt
  • Horizontal blinds with tilt wand
  • Smartphone with SwitchBot app
  • Bluetooth connection
  • SwitchBot Hub (optional, for remote access)
  • USB-C charging cable or Solar Panel (optional)

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Check compatibility: Ensure your blinds use a tilt wand (rod that rotates to angle the slats). Measure the wand diameter (fits most standard sizes).
  2. Charge the Blind Tilt: Connect USB-C and fully charge (approximately 4 hours).
  3. Download SwitchBot app: Install and sign in or create an account.
  4. Attach to tilt wand: Slide the Blind Tilt onto the top of your tilt wand. The device clips around the wand.
  5. Secure the mount: Use the included adhesive or hook mount to stabilize the Blind Tilt against the window frame.
  6. Power on: Press the button to turn on the device.
  7. Add to app: Tap "+" → "Blind Tilt" and follow Bluetooth pairing instructions.
  8. Calibrate tilt range: Set the fully open and fully closed positions using the app.
  9. Connect to Hub (optional): Link to a SwitchBot Hub for voice control and remote access.

Troubleshooting

  • Wand not rotating: Ensure the device is properly clipped onto the wand. Check that the wand isn't jammed or stuck.
  • Tilt range too small: Recalibrate the open/close positions. Some blinds have limited tilt range by design.
  • Device slipping: Use the adhesive stabilizer mount. Ensure clip is properly tightened around the wand.
  • Light sensor not responding: Enable light-based automation in app. Adjust sensitivity thresholds. Check sensor isn't blocked.
  • Multiple blinds out of sync: Use group feature in app. Set the same schedule for all devices. Recalibrate any that are misaligned.
