Eve accessories are designed exclusively for Apple HomeKit, with many newer models supporting Thread and Matter. This guide covers common issues.
Device Won't Pair to HomeKit
Initial pairing problems:
- HomeKit code: Find 8-digit code on device, packaging, or Eve app
- Close proximity: Hold iPhone very close to device during pairing
- Bluetooth on: iPhone Bluetooth must be enabled
- Reset device: Most Eve devices have reset button - hold until LED blinks
- Remove from Home: If previously paired, remove from Home app first
- iOS version: Ensure running latest iOS version
Device Shows "No Response"
When device is unreachable:
- Home hub: Thread/Bluetooth devices need Apple TV or HomePod as home hub
- Hub range: Device may be too far from nearest home hub
- Thread network: Thread devices mesh together - add more Thread devices to extend
- Battery: Check and replace batteries for battery-powered sensors
- Power cycle: Remove battery or unplug for 10 seconds
Thread vs Bluetooth Models
Understanding connectivity:
- Thread models: Look for Thread logo - better range and reliability
- Bluetooth models: Older models use Bluetooth - shorter range
- Border router: Thread needs border router (HomePod Mini, Apple TV 4K)
- Mesh network: Thread devices relay for each other - more devices = better coverage
- Matter upgrade: Some Thread Eve devices can upgrade to Matter
Eve Energy and Power Monitoring
For Eve Energy plugs and strips:
- Load limits: Check device wattage limits before connecting high-draw appliances
- Data sync: Power data syncs when iPhone is nearby (Bluetooth models)
- Eve app: Detailed energy stats available in Eve app, not Apple Home
- Schedules: Create schedules in Eve app or Home app
