If your SwitchBot Curtain robot isn't moving your curtains, has calibration problems, or keeps falling off the track, this guide will help you troubleshoot and fix these issues.

Curtain Robot Won't Move

When the SwitchBot Curtain doesn't respond:

  • Check battery level in the app - recharge if below 20%
  • Ensure the robot is properly attached to the curtain rod
  • Verify Bluetooth connection by moving closer to the device
  • Check if the motor is stuck or blocked by fabric
  • Try controlling it directly from the app (not via schedule)
  • Press the button on the device to test manual operation

Curtain Falls Off the Track

If the robot keeps detaching:

  • Verify you have the correct model for your rod type (U-Rail, Rod, I-Rail)
  • Check that the hook attachments are properly installed
  • Ensure the robot wheels are correctly positioned on the rod
  • Add hook helpers for heavier curtains
  • Check if the rod diameter is within supported range (15-40mm for rod type)
  • Tighten any loose attachment components

Calibration Problems

When the curtain doesn't stop at the right positions:

  • Run the calibration process again from the app
  • Ensure curtains can move freely during calibration
  • Check that nothing is blocking the curtain path
  • Set open and close positions manually in the app
  • Verify the curtain fabric isn't bunching or catching
  • Reset and recalibrate if positions drift over time

Not Opening/Closing Fully

If the curtain stops short:

  • Recalibrate the open and close positions
  • Check if the curtain is too heavy for the motor
  • Ensure nothing is blocking the track or path
  • Add a second SwitchBot Curtain for heavy curtains
  • Check the weight limit (8kg for standard model)
  • Verify battery has sufficient charge for full operation

Light Sensor Automation Not Working

When auto-open based on light doesn't trigger:

  • Enable Light Sensor trigger in the app settings
  • Check the light sensor isn't covered by fabric
  • Adjust the light threshold sensitivity
  • Verify the solar panel (if equipped) is positioned correctly
  • Note: Light sensor works for opening, not closing
  • Use schedules for closing at specific times

Touch & Go Not Working

When pulling the curtain doesn't trigger movement:

  • Enable Touch & Go in the app settings
  • Pull the curtain more firmly to trigger detection
  • Adjust Touch & Go sensitivity if available
  • Check that the motor isn't in a low battery state
  • Verify the robot can move freely on the track
  • Disable and re-enable the feature to reset it

Remote Control Without Hub

Understanding connectivity requirements:

  • Bluetooth control works within ~30ft range
  • SwitchBot Hub Mini/Hub 2 required for remote control
  • Hub enables voice assistant integration
  • Hub enables scheduling when away from home
  • Multiple devices can share one Hub
  • Ensure Hub firmware is up to date

Battery and Charging Issues

For power-related problems:

  • Use the included USB-C cable for charging
  • Full charge takes approximately 9 hours
  • Solar panel can extend battery life but won't fully charge
  • Battery lasts approximately 8 months with daily use
  • Charge when battery drops below 20%
  • Check the charging port for debris

Noise During Operation

If the motor is unusually loud:

  • Check for fabric caught in the wheels or motor
  • Ensure the rod is clean and smooth
  • Verify the robot is correctly aligned on the track
  • Check for loose attachment components
  • Some noise is normal but grinding indicates a problem
  • Contact support if noise persists after checks

Factory Reset

For persistent issues:

  • Press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds
  • The LED will flash indicating reset complete
  • Remove from the SwitchBot app
  • Add as a new device and recalibrate
  • Reconnect to Hub if using remote features
  • Set up schedules and automation again
